Apparently the 1st of September is the beginning of spring in Australia. Technically it is only on the 21st of September - like the summer and winter solstice in the western Hemisphere, but the Australians like to keep things simple and easy - and the beginning of the month is easier to remember then some mid date. So the 1st it is and in its honour, here is the first flowering tree just up the road from me.
What to expect in spring ? A site summarised it as wild flowers and whales ! What a great combo.
