Hello welcome to my Blog

Mezze is widely served in the Greek and Middle eastern world. An assortment of little dishes and tasters which accompany a nice ouzo or a glass of wine. So when you read mezze moments you will have tasty snippets of life as I live it, India for four years and now Brisbane Australia, all served up with some Greek fervour and passion.

Autumnal blessings in blossoms

Autumn has finally arrived. The hot and humid weather has given way to a crisper clime and we are loving it. But autumn is not a time for blossoms or flowers. Do our bees have enough nectar and pollen? I need not worry. We have two enormous lilly pilly trees by the house. Their time to blossom is now in thousands of snowflakes which look beautiful, cover the deck in a film of white and are clearly a favourite with the bees.

With windows and doors always open I began to smell the intoxicating aroma of our hedge murraya paniculata aka Hawaiian mock orange, or jasmine orange.

Hedges all around the neighbourhood have burst into flower, after the rain, and walking past them is heavenly. This lovely plant however is not local which means Australians are quick to classify it as a weed. I looked to capture a photo which was not just of the weed of course but something more - and here it is a wild miniature orchid growing up and in amongst the hedge of jasmine orange just up the road.
