Tyler, our pilot was good at pointing out the Cattle stations as we flew over them. There is only one word really which sums them up - VAST. Anna Creek Station which surrounds William Creek is the world's largest cattle station - it is larger then the whole of Israel just to give you an approximate idea of what we are looking at. It was started in 1863 and originally had sheep but now is a cattle station. In years gone by horsemen would muster the cattle. Now it is done with helicopters and motorcycles and even drones.
Anna Creek Station was bought by Sir Sidney Kidman in 1935 - Australia's s Cattle King. Kidman was 13 years old when he left his Adelaide home in 1870 with only 5 shillings in his pocket and a one eyed horse he had bought with his savings.
A gibber dragon
As of 2016 Anna Creek is owned by the Williams Family. It is a remote and challenging life!
