Rosemere on a Rainy Day

The clouds rolled around the skies bulging grey and threatening downpours - but we set off anyway and a group of us went to Rosemere to check on all the rose bushes we had pruned in the winter months. Laurel, its wonderful knowledgeable owner had invited us back. We all breathed an enormous sigh of relief. In her kindness and her openness she had let us loose in her spectacular rose garden and we pruned the day away and heard to our considerable surprise that we had not killed any rose bushes. Indeed they had thrived and were budding and she wanted us to come back to see them all. So we braved the inclement weather and set off with our hats, brollies, gum boots and picnics. We were not sorry we went. The rain held off as we walked through the gardens several times, hearing her identify each and every one of her roses - I barely remember any names other than Wow one and Wow two and there were enough of Wows from all of us to want us to come back for more. So a working bee next time, the opportunity is too good to miss and we all got home with cuttings, tricks and plans for planting we never dreamed of. Thank you Laurel.
